Operating deflection shape (ODS)

the shape of a structure during operation.  The shape may be determined for all frequencies combined, or for a specific frequency

Operating deflection shape analysis considers the vibration pattern of a machine or structure due to its own internal forces during operation. ODS analysis may be contrasted to modal analysis, which considers the vibration pattern of a machine under external forces.
